Staying on Track
BY: Joseph Grese
Looking back on the days I have been here on Earth, many of the things that stick out to me are the things that I have done wrong. This doesn't help me though and I start to worry. Going to church on Sundays really helps me though. They teach me about how Jesus came and died on the cross for me and then rose on the third day so I could go to heaven. I'm taught about Romans 3:23-24 which says "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus." I also learned that He forgave me and now my sin is gone, but that's just it! What about every other day of week whether it is that really slow going Monday to the excitement of Friday when it is almost the weekend. We get caught up in the stress of school, the excitement of sports, or something someone did to you 3 months ago and completely forget about Jesus. For me it's usually sports or something one of my many siblings did. On Sunday it's usually great and we are no usually very angry, but as the week moves on we forget about Sunday and the lesson we learned.

In the confusion of the week we start to sin. We go astray from Jesus like a lost sheep but he comes and finds us. He illustrates this to us in Luke 15:1-7 which is the parable of the lost sheep. In this way we are very much like the israelites. Over and over they sinned against God just like with the golden calf, but he saved them and forgave them. He will do this for you too.
Think of it this way, you are a fish and one day satan decides to go fishing. During the week you should be focusing on Jesus but satan hooks you and starts to reel you in. He starts tempting you and you fall into the temptations of live. You start sinning and going astray from God, but then something reaches in the water and saves you before Satan can get you. This savior that I am talking about is Jesus. Jesus will not let be tempted more than you can handle. He says it in the bible in 1 Corinthians 10:13 "No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it."

Over the next week remember that Jesus saved you. Don't worry about all your past sins and trust in God that he forgives you. Know that if you believe you will go to heaven. We may miss the mark every day and minute of our life, but know that God did it for us and that he saved us. Don't worry about everyday stress and know that God will come through and make it alright. Know that we ALL sin, but just ask God for forgiveness. He will forgive you and will still love you. He loves us no matter what and will protect us from evil. Psalm 27:1 says "The Lord is my light and my salvation whom shall I Fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life, of whom shall I be afraid." and Psalm 27:5 says "For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the dwelling of his sacred tent and set me high upon a rock."
